Las autoridades médicas y sanitarias de Guatemala se encuentran en alerta máxima ante el riesgo de expandirse la Influenza Porcina desde nuestro vecino México. El Ministro de Salud, Dr. Celso Cerezo, dijo hoy en conferencia de prensa que 2 niños se encuentran en observación pues presentaban algunos síntomas de la gripe, pero los resultados médicos no indican de que se trate de esta peligrosa fiebre. Mientras tanto, dijo que

hay un hombre que recién llegó al país procedente de México y que presentaba síntomas muy similares a la fiebre porcina y éste podría ser el primer caso de la gripe porcina en el país, sin embargo todos los centros médicos del país se encuentran en alerta máxima ante cualquier eventualidad.

Hechos del Fin de Semana - News of the Weekend

Durante el fin semana recién pasado ocurrieron varios accidentes que tránsito que dejó como saldo varios heridos.

En el primero de los accidentes, un hombre no identificado fue atropellado por un vehículo que se dio a la fuga. El hombre herido, de aproximadamente 60 años, fue llevado por los bomberos a la emergencia del Hospital Nacional de Mazatenango. Este accidente se produjo a las 19:30 hrs. en el municipio de San Lorenzo.

During this weekend several accidents that traffic that left like several wounded balance.

In the first of the accidents, a non identified man was run over by a vehicle that escaped from the place. The wounded man, approximately 60 years old, was taken by the firemen to the emergency of the National Hospital of Mazatenango. this acceidente went at 19:30 hrs. in San Lorenzo.

En el segundo caso, dos personas fueron arrolladas en Cuyotenango, en la carretera que conduce a la aldea Chacalté. Estas dos personas se conducían en un bicicleta cuando un vehículo los atropelló, una de las víctimas (no identificada) aún estaba con vida y fue trasladada por los bomberos Municipales de Cuyotenango al Hospital Nacional de Mazatenango, mientras que la otra víctima, Feliciano Chay (20 años) falleció.

In the second case, two people were rolled in Cuyotenango, in the highway that leads to the village Chacalté. These two people behaved in a bicycle when a vehicle ran over them, one of the victims (not identified) was still with life and it was transferred by the Firemen from Cuyotenango to the National Hospital of Mazatenango, while the other victim, Feliciano Chay (20 years of age) died.

Otro de los casos, Carlos Monterroso de 58 años, fue encontrado a la orilla de la carretera que conduce de San Antonio Such. a la ciudad capital de Guatemala. El herido presentaba varios golpes en diferentes partes del cuerpo y fue llevado al Hospital Nacional de Mazatenango.

Another of the cases, Carlos Monterroso (58 years old), was find on the highway the road that leads of San Antonio Such. to the capital city of Guatemala. The wounded presented several blows in different parts of the body and it was taken to the National Hospital of Mazatenango.

En la finca Panorama, ubicada en el municipio de San Lorenzo, en el camino que conduce a la aldea Valle Candelaria. El cadáver de un hombre no identificado fue localizado entre unos matorrales de la finca. Según las autoridades, el fallecido no portaba documentos de identificación y tenía 5 días aproximadamente de estar en ese lugar.

According to the authorities, the deceased didn't carry identification documents and he had approximately 5 days of being in that place.

Empleados del Centro de Salud de Mazatenango, informaron extraoficialmente, que las autoridades sanitarias están alarmados ante el brote del virus de Rabia que ha estado atacando a las mascotas de la región, principalmente a los perros. Lo preocupante de este brote, es que en toda la región no se escucha de ninguna campaña de vacunación para mascotas. De hecho, se sabe que varias personas ya han sido atacadas por estos animales enfermos y ya están recibiendo tratamiento.

De acuerdo a la información de los empleados de Salud, el procedimiento que se sigue al verificar la anormalidad del animal, es sacrificarlo, se corta la cabeza y se envía a la capital de Guatemala para su análisis. De 14 casos de animales sospechosos de estar contagiados por el virus, 10 casos han sido positivos. Las regiones más afectadas son Santo Domingo y San Pablo.

Al preguntar por qué no se realiza una campaña de divulgación a la población para que vacune a sus mascotas, la respuesta fue que, el Ministerio de Salud (en la Capital) redujo el presupuesto en este año y no hay fondos para hacer publicidad preventiva. Además, es preocupante la proliferación de perros callejeros que deambulan por los poblados.

Según los especialistas, la rabia es una enfermedad aguda infecciosa viral del sistema nervioso central ocasionada por un RHABDOVIRUS que causa encefalitis aguda. El virus de la rabia se encuentra difundido en todo el planeta y ataca a los mamíferos domésticos y salvajes, incluyendo al hombre. Se encuentra en la saliva y en las secreciones de los animales infectados y se inocula al hombre cuando éstos lo atacan y provocan en él alguna lesión por mordedura; además puede contagiar cuando un individuo que tiene algún corte en la piel (vía de entrada del virus) tiene contacto con las secreciones salivales de un animal infectado. Los vectores animales importantes incluyen: perros, gatos, murciélagos, mangostas, zorros, hurones, mapaches, y lobos.

La transmisión sólo es posible mediante el contacto directo con un vector portador o con material biológico procedente del mismo, ya que por ser un virus con una envuelta lipídica es muy sensible a los factores ambientales.

Esta enfermedad, si no se trata con la máxima urgencia, acaba provocando la muerte del enfermo. Cuando una persona se contagia, los síntomas de la enfermedad pueden tardar entre 60 y 300 días en manifestarse.

El servicio de transporte urbano de Mazatenango fue suspendido en esta mañana, al ser secuestrado un piloto por delincuentes que se dedican a extorsionar a pilotos y empresarios que prestan este servicio. Miles de personas tuvieron que caminar o conseguir otro tipo de transporte para trasladarse a sus tareas diarias. El Gobernador de la ciudad, Werner Martínez, se reunió con representantes del gremio de pilotos del servicio urbano y el comisario de la policía local, para analizar la solución a este problema.

Los pilotos indicaron que las bandas de delincuentes les han exigido el pago de Q.500.00 semanales y a otros hasta Q.5 mil al mes. Q.8,000.00 es lo que piden los delincuentes para no matar al piloto secuestrado. La Policía instaló varios puestos de registro en toda la ciudad para localizar al piloto secuestrado y tratar de arrestar a los delincuentes.

También en la Ciudad Capital de Guatemala, hoy se vivió una jornada de violencia cuando grupos organizados de delincuencia hirieron a un piloto del servicio urbano y asesinaron a dos pasajeros en tres ataques armados.
En uno de los ataques armados de hoy, un pasajero de aproximadamente 85 años, fue asesinado e hirieron a un piloto del servicio urbano de la ruta 44 cuando 2 delincuentes que viajaban en una motocicleta dispararon contra el piloto en la zona 2 de esa ciudad. Minutos después, otro ataque se realizó en contra de otro piloto de la misma ruta en la entrada a la Colonia Bethania y Anillo Periférico, el piloto salió ileso. Un tercer hecho similar ocurrió en Anillo Periférico en la cercanías a la Universidad de San Carlos cuando un bus de la ruta 203 fue abordado por varios delincuentes para asaltar a los pasajeros y dieron muerte a una persona de 20 años.
Estos hechos provocaron que varias rutas suspendieran el servicio como protesta a la poca seguridad que tiene este sector. Momentos después, los estudiantes de la Universidad de San Carlos instalaron barricadas en Calles aledañas a la universidad para protestar contra el gobierno y las autoridades policíacas por la poca seguridad que tienen los pilotos del servicio urbano y la población en general ante la ola delincuencial. Miles de personas tuvieron que caminar por varias horas para llegar a sus destinos.

Los pilotos indicaron que estos ataques son producto de la falta de pago de una extorsión de Q75 mil quetzales que los delincuentes habían exigido en días anteriores.

Por su parte, el Ministro de Gobernación, Salvador Gándara, indicó que el crimen organizado quiere desestabilizar al país al provocar esta ola de violencia que ha afectado a toda la capital en general. En particular, señaló a un pandillero, Áxel Danilo Ramírez, alias “Smiley”, quien recientemente salió libre bajo fianza, por los delitos de orquestar y dirigir extorsiones y asesinatos de pilotos. El Presidente Alvaro Colon, la noche del Martes por TV, dijo que estos actos de violencia son provocados por el crimen organizado para desestabilizar a su Gobierno, y que estos surgieron por políticas erróneas en materia de seguridad de gobiernos anteriores.
